DNS – GoDaddy

In this video, I’m going to show you how to change your DNS settings if you are using GoDaddy.com. Now, once you have registered a domain name in GoDaddy.com, you’ll be given your login username and your login password. So I am going to log in to my GoDaddy account right here, and once you have logged in, you’ll see a main GoDaddy admin page right here. Just click on Domain Manager to be able to see all the domains that you have in your GoDaddy account.

Then you need to select the domain name that you want to change the name servers for, and just click on that particular domain name.

Now, you can see the main admin panel for this particular domain name. So to change name servers, just look at the top menu here and click on the Name Servers icon. And you’ll be able to see the default name servers which belong to GoDaddy.com. So make sure you already have the exact name server address as would be given by your web hosting company. So in the example of HostCommando.com, our servers are usually located HostCommando.net, so we’re gonna enter the specific name server right here, which is ns1. So you’ll see that the first is ns1 and the second name server is ns2. NS, of course, stands for “name server.” So every web hosting company out there would usually give you at least two different name server addresses, and GoDaddy allows up to 3 or even more, but for most cases, you’ll only need two different names of addresses. And when you’re done, you click on “OK”.

And here, you’ll see a message from GoDaddy that says, “Your changes have been submitted. Please allow a few minutes for the changes to take effect.” Now, whenever you change name servers, it can take up to 5-6 hours for your name servers to be effective. So that’s how you change your name server settings in GoDaddy.com.
